If you don’t know where you’re going, pull over before you cause an accident.

If you don’t know where you’re going, pull over before you cause an accident.

We all know how obvious it is when you are following a car, and the driver has no idea where they’re going. They are constantly contemplating turns and confusing those around them. The same can be said for early and growth-stage companies.

When leading a team backed by customers, employees, partners, and capital, it is imperative to know where you are going. Yes, even in the early stages, you need clarity of mission, vision, plan and goals.

One of the biggest indicators when a team doesn’t succeed is a lack of a unified plan and a cadence to stay the course.

If you are leading a team and aren’t clear on where you are going, schedule time with your team to explore and define your plan.

Build a plan. Build it together. Build a cadence of iteration to keep together and on course.
